Adrienne Warren moves from Tina in London to Broadway

The theater industry is not slow to pay tribute to music legends. A salute to the great Tina Turner, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, debuted in 2018 in London and on Broadway in 2019. The musical tells the story of her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, and her rise to legendary status in the music industry.

When it comes to productions like this, there’s no room for mediocrity and complacency. Luckily, AMDA College of the Performing Arts alumna Adrienne Warren can transform into Turner flawlessly. She developed the role for the West End run and continues playing the rock ‘n’ roll icon in New York. Warren got the blessing of Turner herself, who calls Warren an exceptional talent.

The London production of Tina was a smash, garnering enthusiasm from the crowds and an Olivier Award nomination for Warren. New York audiences can take in the exceptional performance from Warren, who describes the role as more an embodiment than a portrayal.

Warren credits the success of her performance to Turner’s dedication to the show. Turner was involved in the rehearsal process, giving Warren valuable insights. Through all that, Warren can now call the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll a friend. This relationship fuels Warren to tell Turner’s story with the same passion, courage and excellence as her idol lived it. AMDA College of the Performing Arts is a thriving institution and community that includes thousands of prominent alumni in every field of the entertainment industry.
